The new Volvo XC60 is so sure

Soon it is so far: at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 (March 9-19) the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo the next generation of its medium-sized SUVs before the new XC60 is. Like many other brands, Volvo holding back strongly with information before its presentation in Switzerland, what's pictures and information about the new car. Now, there are at least a few details about the safety features of the XC60.
More protection in the city
Especially the "City safety system" has been improved yet again in the XC60. It recognizes also cyclists, pedestrians and animals in addition to other vehicles. A new steering intervenes when a normal emergency braking avoidance is no longer enough. To a driving pulse of the driver is necessary however, to the car then amplified in a speed range from 50 to 100 km/h. In the city the system won't so probably more used.
Active intervention in the track leaving
Completely new in the XC60 and generally in vehicles from Volvo is the so-called "oncoming lane migration". The system to prevent accidents with the oncoming traffic by preventing a drifting off on the wrong track with targeted brake intervention. The Assistant is from 60 to 140 km/h active and according to Malin Ekholm, the head of the Security Department at Volvo, an important step in the direction of fully autonomous driving. Also with brake intervention that works "blind spot information system", which not only more warns of vehicles in the blind spot, but also actively to avoid a collision.
Volvo protects its occupants
In addition to the previously mentioned systems is the XC60 and the models of the 90s family "run-off road protection" on board. This occupant protection is to prevent serious personal injury of passengers in accidents. Also the "pilot assist" for part of autonomous driving up to 130 km/h is integrated with the XC60. "The complete safety equipment that we have adopted with the 90s series, can be found in the new Volvo XC60. Thus, we remain true to develop automotive safety systems for everyday on the road our strategic approach. Our vision stipulates that by 2020 no one more injured in a new Volvo model or is killed", explains security expert Ekholm.
Inside and in the XC90
The new XC60 is built like also the XC90 on the SPA platform, which is significantly larger than the new CMA platform, on which, for example, the compact SUV XC40 to base. In the Interior, we expect the same upright display as it is found also in the XC90. Former Erlkönig images of the XC60 however reveal that the monitor in the smaller SUV might be tilted more to the driver. The current XC60 was unveiled in 2008 and got a facelift in 2013. The entry vehicle with 150 diesel HP starts 35.950 euro, the top XC60 50.700 euros. (mf)
