Volvo Concept Estate More than just a study

More than just a study

Volvo once again presents an exciting study and called the Concept Estate simply combined. We remind the new concept car, however, strongly of the Volvo P1800 SE, the legendary Shooting Brake, which many may perhaps be known as the so-called Snow White's Coffin better. Also, the Volvo Concept Estate comes with a lot of glass.

Volvo is at the Auto Salon in Geneva before the last of three exceptional vehicle concepts. The Volvo Concept Estate presents itself in the same design language as the recently revealed Volvo Concept Coupé Concept and Volvo XC coupe. The Swedes may be looking in the things interior design over the shoulder, because what you get to see in Geneva, to decorate the interior of future Volvos as well as in the models from 2015.

While the two shown at the IAA in 2013 and earlier this year in Detroit Studies Concept Coupe and Coupe Concept XC gave an outlook on the future sedans, coupes, and crossover of the brand, the Concept Estate now shows how the classic combo of Sweden closer future will look like. Externally, this is not surprising in light of the two previous studies. The third concept is the Volvo - style features of the near future as the T-shaped headlights and the concave grille.

What is new is that now the interior presents near-series form. The battlefield of the buttons from the current Volvo models is gone, instead there is now a large touch screen in the center console, on the future, a large proportion of vehicle functions is operated. The screen has roughly the size of an iPad and is the most important information from the navigation system, air conditioning and radio can show at the same time, so no cumbersome clicking through sub-menus is necessary. Volvo wants to create an entirely new user experience that has successfully been implemented in the mobile communications and entertainment industry.

Volvo sets the virtues of functionality, robustness and practicality with performance and wants to redefine as the combined segment. The previously presented concept vehicles are to set standards, have already caused quite a stir and have been awarded with prizes.

The first model with the new design language with body and interior will be the upper-class SUV XC90, which goes on sale early 2015. As a result, the Swedes want to renew their complete model range above the still quite fresh compact model V40 the same formula. In addition to a common technical platform, which replaces the still inherited from the former parent company Ford architecture, there are also new four-cylinder diesel and gasoline engines with up to 225 kW/306 hp.
