When Peugeot pulled the blankets from its new 508 sedan that we have not been amazed. On a somewhat arg usually acting agents-class saloon (508 Generation One) was followed by a knife, sharp-cut five-door coupe with a lot of oomph and character. Now, almost four months later, the lion brand presents us with the right combination and also the new 508 SW can only say: Oh la la, it's pretty much done right.
The more aggressive Front with the vampire tooth-like LED daytime running lights, the light band at the rear ... even the coupe-like shape has to be transferred to the station wagon. The 508 SW has a lot of a Fastback. The comparatively small window to fit surfaces. The Windows themselves are, as in the case of the Limo frameless, and what you have in the case of a combination safe is also not too often seen. Send it is so. And that is not unimportant, because even though the SUVs will tear more and more the world is in the European D-Segment is still every third sold car a station wagon.
But what's with all the Sex helps Appeal, if the family car is not practical? In the case of the all-round visibility there is, at least according to the pictures certainly better Alternatives. Like the sedan, the new 508 SW is, of course, on the EMP2 platform, which is celebrated in the Crossovern 3008 and 5008 Premiere. In the so-called i-Cockpit, nothing will change: It remains with the small steering Wheel and the overlying instruments, which are carried out as in the 3008 and 5008 as a 12.3-inch Display. Among the assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping assistant as well as an infrared-based night vision system.
The engines, which do not differ in the 508 SW little surprise from those in the 508 sedan. The 1.6-litre PureTech petrol engine comes in two power levels with 180 and 225 HP, and the only with the EAT8-automatic transmission. The Diesel will come with 1.5 and 2.0 Liter displacement, as well as in three power levels of 130, 160 and 180 HP. Here, too, PSAs eight-speed automatic is used, only the 130-HP Version is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission available. A Plug-in Hybrid Version with an all-electric range of 50 km is expected for 2019.
The Peugeot 508 SW will have its world premiere at the Paris auto salon in 2018 (4. to 14. October). The market launch takes place in January of 2019. The prices are not fixed yet.(sw)
