Finally, power to the people?

Hannover, 23 March 2017

We are honest: electric mobility is all well and good, but currently that good Stromer largely only as a second car. However, especially the high price of negative weight. Soon, that may be changing: the e.GO life debuts on the electronics and computer trade fair CeBIT in Hannover, 2017.

In series from beginning of 2018

The e.GO Mobile AG has emerged from a research project of the RWTH Aachen University in Germany and employs approximately 70 people. Originally as a light vehicle (similar to the Renault Twizy) planned "life" was designed to in December 2016 for a full car of the vehicle class M1. There are all commercially available cars in the M1 class. From may 2017 the e.GO life can be ordered, the market launch is planned for the spring of 2018.

City-friendly dimensions

Look at the fundamentals of e.GO life: the 48-volt drive system comes from Bosch, the battery stores energy 14.4 kWh. In comparison, the latest electric smart is 17.6. The e.Go life is 3.38 meters short, 1.70 m wide and 1.57 meters tall. His concept of space is equivalent to a 2 + 2-seater, two adult front and two children behind. In 4.9 seconds Sprint the car from zero to 50 km/h, without a battery, it weighs 650 kilograms.

Cheaper than a smart

In the basic version, the range should be at 100 km, optional 140 kilometres are possible, then the capacity of the battery rises to 19.2 kilowatt hours. The continuous power is located at 22 kilowatts, momentarily 30 kilowatts are possible. Again a quick glance to the E-smart: this always 160 km, costs just under 18,000 euros but even as fortwo after deducting the electric premium in the amount of 4,000 euros. Here the e.GO life his trump card to play. Its prices start without premium 15,900 euros, after the deduction of the car would be so 11.900 EUR. (rh)
