Opel Ascona

With the Opel Ascona, produced 1970-1988, succeeded Opel to establish itself in the European automotive middle class. The first generation of the Opel Ascona ran until 1975 under the name Ascona A as a sedan and as a wagon (including much sought after today as Voyage version) from the tape. The drive took over depending on version 1.6 - or 1.9-liter four-cylinder engine 68-90 hp. Then only the Opel Ascona sedan called Ascona B was further built until 1981. This additional engines were like a 1.2-liter petrol and a 2.0-liter diesel engine available. Simultaneously, a sports version called the Opel Ascona B 400 added the model range of the mid-size sedan. Walter Röhrl drove this car successfully at several World Rally Championships. With the third generation Opel took a complete change his driving philosophy : The Opel Ascona C was built in 1982 as a front-wheel drive levels and Hatchback and hosted a total of fourteen different engines from 60 to 130 hp. As the Opel Ascona was finally replaced in 1988 by the Opel Vectra, Opel Ascona total of nearly four million were rolled off.
