Jaguar XJ40

The Jaguar XJ40 was introduced in 1986 as a successor to the XJ Series III and was originally designed only for use with straight-six engines. Since this is not enough for the power-hungry Jaguar customer, an additional twelve-cylinder version of the Jaguar XJ40 was introduced in 1993 after extensive changes to the chassis. The enlarged to 6.0-liter V12 makes 311 hp, the two six-cylinder 2.9 and 3.6 liter 165 or 212 hp. From 1990, the six-cylinder Jaguar XJ40 received more displacement and output (3.2 L, 197 hp and 4.0 liters, 222 hp). In addition to the base model and the luxurious Sovereign from 1993 there was also a version of the Jaguar XJ40 long-wheelbase under the name " Majestic".
