Volvo: First look at V40 and XC40

The complete conversion of the model range at Volvo goes on. After the great 90's series the compact 40 line is next. Now, two studies called 40.1 and 40.2 show where are headed in the near future.

In addition to the successor of the V40 is noteworthy, that Volvo obviously goes with a XC40 in the Tiguan class. Possible, the variety CMA is abbreviated due to the compact modular architecture, in English. Formally, the two types of 40s put on more edges than the 90's series, which reminds away successful look at Skoda and SsangYong.

In series from 2017

Too much Volvo is not revealed yet, but says that the CMA platform alongside conventional motors allow an electric drive and offshoot with plug-in hybrid. The latter is called T5 twin engine and combine a three-cylinder gasoline engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an electric motor. By the year 2025, the Sweden want to sell worldwide one million electric vehicles. The first model of the new series of 40s to go into production in 2017. (rh)
