A variant of the i30

Hair, 14 March 2017

As a hatchback variant, the Hyundai i30 is already on sale and the station wagon version of "Wagon" is currently at the Geneva car show 2017 (March 9-19). Also a performance-oriented i30 "N" is in the starting blocks. But Hyundai has even more: our Erlkönig Hunter has now photographed a heavily camouflaged test vehicle of the fastback version. We have the information.

Between station wagon and sedan

The hatchback i30 and the hatchback version here scanned are identical from the front up to the B-pillar. Then, the roof falls down easily and seems to end up in a small rump. The final shape is not to recognize the tailgate could however far in the direction of the roof under the bulky camouflage. Rear lights and bumper are aligned horizontally, and seem to fit the current Hyundai design.

Under the hood: The motors

On the technical side, we expect the motors, which is also available in the i30 already on the market. This starts with a 1.4 liter gasoline engine with 100 PS for 17.450 euro. The strongest unit is a 140-Horsepower turbo engine. Cost for the top i30: 22,300 euros. The diesel engines we go with 95 HP for 21,300 euros and ends at the 136 PS self-ignition for 24.750 euro. In the first test, noticed the Gulf opponent with powerful engines, an impeccable undercarriage and a good Interior. There were minus points for the somewhat inconspicuous appearance and the choice of orderable options like Park beeper for front and rear. These are available at the i30 only for the fourth of five facilities. (mf)
