Detroit (USA), 16. January 2018
It is amazing that A VW Passat GTI, there was never. In 1979, one in Wolfsburg on the verge of calling the finished vehicle with the 110 PS engine in the Golf GTI but the Passat GLi. In the last few decades, the Passat could get customers also, the units of the Golf GTI, yet the famous name was taboo. More than a GT equipment was not in it, later, there was still the R36. Now the U.S. division of VW shows on the auto show NAIAS in Detroit (15. to 28. January 2018) GTI-dreams based on the American Passat.
Wet Ami Dream?
However, this car may be called (presumably at the behest of Wolfsburg) only Passat GT. Based on a study, which VW showed in the year 2016 and stated that it corresponded to the Wishes of customers and traders is. Now, a production version is coming on the basis of the US-Passat R-Line version on the American market. The edition is limited, because of the US Passat is 2019 a successor.
A hint of the GTI
So it obviously makes sense, the sedan / saloon Limousine once more to spice things up. Especially the honeycomb grill and the red strip along the front fascia are reminiscent of the Golf GTI. Add to that the Passat GT standard LED headlights, a sporty suspension plus 19-inch wheels with red brake calipers. Accents the black roof, a black rear spoiler and darkened rear lights. Indoor piano lacquer optics dominates imitation in combination with carbon fiber.
When you drive a VW draws from the Full and missed the Passat GT with a 3.6-Liter VR6 gasoline with 280 BHP, 350 Newton metres of torque and six-speed DSG. Possible this is not because the US Passat is still based on the modular transverse Toolkit. Our Euro-Passat is, however, MQB, and therefore, in the range-topping 280 HP from a 2.0-Liter four-cylinder. Connoisseurs know: by 2014, there was the Three-sixes. In the second quarter of 2018, the VW Passat GT rolls out in the US showrooms. The price is without the Overpass and local taxes in 29.090 dollars, the equivalent of about 23,800 EUR.(rh)
