Revised: Mazda 3

Three years after the launch of the third generation of the Mazda 3 half of the life cycle is reached. Therefore, the manufacturer provides the compact car now to model year 2017 with a comprehensive revision. While the number 3 from the Mazda range gets not only a new look. What has changed everything else? We have the details.

New optics, LED technology and more Wizard

The exterior design Adaptive LED headlights with LED fog lamps from the Mazda 6 and the Mazda CX-5 will be enhanced along with a newly designed front of vehicle and a new rear bumper. The Interior will get a higher quality appearance. This will be achieved through an electric parking brake, a heated steering wheel and an improved head-up display. In addition, city emergency brake is extended by a high resolution front-facing camera, which replaces the current laser technology. This works the system in a larger speed range and captures pedestrians next to other vehicles. These are complemented by a lane change Assistant, a low help and an adaptive cruise control.

"G-vectoring control" of "Skyactiv vehicle dynamics"

Another technical highlight in the Mazda 3 facelift is summarized under the umbrella term "Skyactiv Vehicle Dynamics". The new system called "G-Vectoring Control" to lift the cornering, stability, as well as the comfort of the vehicle to an unprecedented level. Standard on board, it uses existing sensors and affects the Steering behaviour by using a small adjustment of the motor torque. As the vehicle to adapt more precisely the intentions of the driver, unconscious steering corrections are reduced and the pilot tire less quickly. Also, so the transitions between transverse and longitudinal accelerations should be smoothed out.

Engines, launch, prices

2017er Mazda 3 of the known range of engines is driven: available options are three petrol engines with 100, 120 and 165 HP and two diesel units with 105 or 150 hp. A so-called "natural sound smoother" is used in the diesel engines. These are dynamic damping in the normally hollow piston PIN. They absorb vibrations and contribute to a quieter run. All engines, transmission as standard via a six-speed manual transmission. Also a six speed automatic gearbox is optionally available. The car performed as a five-door hatchback or a four-door sedan is available from autumn 2016. The first deliveries will begin early 2017. Prices are not yet known so far. (ml)
