Renault Mégane: courage to the stage

Compact notchback sedans in Germany are pure box-office poison: the VW Jetta sold in the United States great, in this country, however, hardly. Ford has developed at all no notchback-focus, Citroën tried the C-Elysée on a reasonable price. Renault's attempts in this segment were most recently doomed to fail: it reminds of the fluence at most as an electric car. Nevertheless, there are markets that are available on classic shapes. For them, Renault is now bringing the new Mégane as notchback.

Voluminous rear end

The CMF modular system of the Renault-Nissan Group makes it possible. Therefore relatively cost-effective various body styles can be realized, this includes also the Scénic vans. Visually, the Mégane is notchback on the striking front section of his brothers, while the rear saloon reminiscent of talisman. The most important argument for the steps Renault is his trunk of 508 liters, optionally opens the tailgate by foot movement. In the cockpit there is familiar views: both the 8.7-inch screen on the center console and the colored head-up display are known from the Mégane family.

The engine range shows that Renault calculated the Mégane sedan with pointed pen. Entry aggregate is a 115 PS of strong suction petrol engine with five-speed manual or CVT transmission. In a 130-HP Turbo, a dual-clutch transmission is available for the ranks. The diesel range is from 90 to 130 HP, here is always a six-speed transmission on board. For the time being only the grey import remains German customers because the sedan built in Turkey is offered mainly in Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic and Poland. Countries such as Ireland, Italy and even Australia get to enjoy. Surprisingly lacking but sedan-savvy Nations like Spain or Portugal, also in the Renault - motherland France the car not coming first. (fg)
