Nimble Yaris with supercharged engine
Geneva, 8 March 2017
Clear: At the Geneva car show 2017 (March 9-19) once again dominate the new releases from premium brands such as McLaren, Porsche, Lamborghini and co. But also for the narrow purse, sporty cars can be found on the Swiss auto show. Toyota shows the probably most fun Yaris of all time in Geneva for example the Yaris GRMN.
Voted at the Nürburgring
First we clarify the naming question time: what is actually meant by "GRMN"? Now, the abbreviation symbolizes both the Toyota Motorsport team Gazoo racing as well as the voting place of the Yaris, the Nürburgring. "Gazoo racing masters of Nürburgring" arises so together. Sounds like a karate dojo? But somehow fits into the small Japanese. The GRMN Yaris from returning is inspired and influenced Toyota in the World Rally Championship. That explains the wild war paint in the colors of Gazoo racing.
1.8-liter engine with compressor
Under the short hood, he wears Yaris a 1.8 liter large heart. Special feature: The aggregate is not brought by a normal Turbo on tours, but by a compressor. A nice break from the hot-hatch Motors pabulum. The drive levers 210 PS on the front axle. Switching is via a six speed manual transmission that transmits the power via a mechanical torsen limited-slip differential on the 17-inch BBS wheels.
Chassis, brakes and Interior
The chassis of the Yaris was stiffened in comparison to the normal model and equipped with an extra strut front suspension. The chassis was tuned with Sachs dampers and shorter springs on the Northern loop of the Nürburgring. Ventilated disc brakes with four-piston calipers provide for his delay. The three-door rally foiling, roof spoiler, as well as the diffuser makes visually significantly more on motor sports than many of his competitors with concentric tailpipe. In the Interior, sport seats and a leather sports steering wheel provide the direction. On the market, the Yaris GRMN should however only in the spring of 2018 coming at the same time with its biggest competitor, the Ford Fiesta ST with 200 hp. By the way: in the rally World Championship, these two vehicles fight also for the Crown. I'm glad to see that there are again sporting base models of the top competition cars. (mf)
