On the eve of the New York Auto Show 2016 (25 March to 3 April) has Subaru the cloths torn from its all-new Impreza sedan. Who has expected to ground-breaking in terms of design is likely to be disappointed. The new looks not so much different than the old. There's a somewhat skulpturalere line and new lights all around. The rest is Subaru styling, as we know it. However, it will significantly more interesting once you enter under the cover of the Impreza. The 2017er Impreza is the first car that stands on Subaru's new platform. The platform, that in future all (!) Subarus are use of the compact on station wagons up to SUVs. One believes the Japanese all-wheel manufacturer, then there is significant progress on all levels with the new Base: better handling, more comfortable, less noise and vibration.
Dynamically forward
The new platform should be fit for all types of drives. These include also hybrid. The new Impreza shown in New York does, however on the classic combination of four-cylinder Boxer petrol and the symmetrical all-wheel drive typical of Subaru. The Impreza is limousine longer and wider than ever before. However, it is also 10 mm flat, which aims to improve the drag coefficient. Subaru also indicates that a lower centre of gravity, as well as a revised chassis in terms of driving dynamics contribute to the "biggest step forward", one "ever made".
Safer and more enjoyable
There's progress in security and the atmosphere in the Interior. With it is Subaru's eyesight technology, which consists of the now usual conglomerate of lane, dead angle detectors and emergency braking assistance. It is new that works the emergency brake function now also when reversing. Inside, a much nice Infotainment system with Smartphone-like operation replaces the evil that has caused discomfort in Impreza cockpits. It is a big step forward. The new Impreza is likely won't make it for the time being Limo after Germany. At the New York Auto show is but only a few hours later also presented the new compact five-door hatchback. Here there are better prospects for us. It is not known whether there will again be a hot version of the WRX STI. (black & white)
