The Skoda Octavia is the strongest sales model of the Czech car manufacturer. So over five million customers built into their in the last 20 years the compact car, which technically size actually ranges from compact and mid-size. The current third generation is 2012 on the market. What is after four years? Right, a face lift. So the manufacturer with extensively revised versions of the sedan and combi wants to build on the success of its predecessor.
Same dimensions, new look
Nothing is changed on the dimensions and the body changes are purely optical nature. Worked mainly on the front. Two neighboring headlights each side of the car (on request in full LED version) which now form a new four eyes face are new. New lighting units were fitted at the rear, the difference from the previous version is here but much lower.
Technology upgrading on the inside
Inside, Skoda has been mainly on the technology: the infotainment systems now have capacitive displays and the 9.2-inch top system called "Columbus" can immediately come up with a Wi-FI hotspot and a SIM card with LTE speed. Will be retrofitted with the wizard: a trailer manoeuvring Wizard, a forward-looking pedestrian protection, a system that secures the lane change rear radar and helps with the reverse parking and a rear view camera is new to the program.
More "simply smart"
New smart features for the Skoda is known, are: a personalised key on which multiple users can store their individual vehicle settings, steering wheel heating, folding the backrest of the front seat, bottle holder, which should facilitate the opening of bottles and the Combi a removable lamp in the luggage compartment.
The same drive program. For the time being without RS petrol engine
For the time being the performance range of the four diesel and switched five petrol engines 86-184 HP. is via manual or optional DSG with six or seven courses. The 180-Horsepower gasoline engine, as well as the diesel with 150 and 184 Horsepower with all-wheel drive are also available. When and if the RS engines with 220 and 230 HP pull strong two-litre four-cylinder petrol engine in the face lift, is not yet known.
Prices, order start and launch
The prices of the revised Octavia models, Skoda keeps still covered. Currently the base price for a sedan with 86-HP gasoline engine is 17.190 euros, the Combi is 17.850 euros. More we will learn when the order start planned for end of 2016 approaches. The market introduction is dated to early 2017. (ml)
