With the multifunctional Van Opel Combo 1.6 CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) the Rüsselsheim car maker in June 2005 brought another car with this economical and environmentally friendly drive technology to market. The strength of the 97 hp Opel Combo 1.6 CNG, is its cost : With a fuel consumption of an average of 4.9 kilograms of natural gas per 100 kilometers and the current gas price of about 0.70 € per kilo, the fuel costs are reduced compared to the diesel versions 1.3 CDTI and 1.7 CDTI (70 HP and 100 hP) by about 30 percent. Thanks to the underfloor arrangement of the three gas tanks in the Opel Combo CNG alternative drive requires no concessions in terms of practicality. The exterior compact natural gas van has to offer such as the conventionally powered counterparts in the five-seat Combi variants tour and up to 3,050 liters, and even as a van maximum load capacity of 3,200 liters. The tanks of the Opel Combo 1.6 CNG hold 110 liters of gas and, in conjunction with the 14-liter gasoline reserve, which serves to bridge routes without a natural gas station, an operating range of around 550 kilometers.
