Toyota presented at the Geneva motor show (8. to 18. March 2018) a study of the planned new sports car. The developed jointly with BMW, the model will probably be called Supra, the study bears the name of GR Supra Racing Concept, with GR for Gazoo Racing.
Top motor with 340 HP?
The Geneva-shown study is obviously designed for the Motorsport. It is 4.57 metres long and only 1.23 metres high. As befits a genuine sports car, combined the newcomer a front-engine with rear-wheel drive and a lightweight body. Details on the unit, Toyota does not make. Motor1.com United States, cites the information from the Japanese magazine "Best Car", according to which there should be three of BMW-developed engines. Top motor is a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder with turbo charging and 340 HP and a torque of 450 Newton meters. Among them, there are supposedly two four-cylinder with 252 and 197 HP. An eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive.
Giant wings and but funny diffuser
The Exterior of the study is dominated by an oversized rear wing, and a downright ludicrous diffuser. The broad bumper and flared wheel arches and the front splitter you have to think away, if you want to know, such as the series Supra could look like. For many parts of lightweight composite used materials (i.e., probably Carbon), the discs are made of plastic. Also the chassis is lower than the production car. This BBS-rims with Central locking and a Brembo braking system.
Motorsport Cockpit with roll cage
The Spartan Cockpit is also aimed at the Motorsport. On panels of metal parts has been largely omitted, only the insides of the doors are fitted with carbon fiber plates. The car has a roll cage and additional struts to the side in front of the driver. The only seat belt with a racing shell by OMP with suspenders. The Carbon steering Wheel is covered with many colorful buttons and knobs, there are pedals that are not much more than perforated metal sheets.
Beginning in the spring of 2018 in the video game
Now who wants to drive as fast as possible, the new Supra, should acquire the video game "Gran Turismo Sport". In April 2018, there will be an Update, which is the GR Supra Racing Concept. On the production car (and a BMW-and-sister model Z4), we will have to wait until the autumn of 2018.(sl)
