Beginning March 2016 KIA at the motor show in Geneva showed a new crossover hybrid vehicle, the Niro. Now the manufacturer has announced (the wheelbase is 2.70 meters) the starting price for the novice 4.36 meters long in the compact SUV segment.
Technical data and performance
The stainless steel is driven by a drive train, consisting of a 105 HP strong 1.6 liter gasoline direct injection and a 44-Horsepower electric motor. The system comes to a total capacity of 141 HP and a maximum torque of 265 Newton meters. A six-speed dual-clutch transmission is the power to the front wheels. Who is expected to sporty driving performance disapointed: take 11.5 seconds 0-100 km/h. The maximum speed is Kia with 162 km/h. The emission of CO2 should be 88 g / km, which corresponds to a consumption of about 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
Standard equipment from the base
Offered is the new hybrid-KIA in three versions: Edition 7, vision and spirit. The entry version is available from 24.990 euro. The basic model includes among others a two zone climate control, an audio system (with five inch display, six speakers and audio streaming via Bluetooth), a speakerphone, a speed regulation system, electrically adjustable and heated outside mirrors, electric Windows, a central locking with radio remote control, a twilight sensor, a multifunction steering wheel, height-adjustable driver's and passenger seats as well as fog lights, LED daytime running lights and LED tail lights. In addition, Kia 16-inch alloy wheels inside the wheel arches.
Shenanigans subject to surcharge
Who roams like wild in the option list, can features extras like a seven or eight inch Navi, a reversing camera, seat heater and seat ventilation, leather, Xenon headlights, aluminum pedals or electric glass sunroof order. Assistant options are the lane change Assistant with dead-angle-Warner, a transverse transport Warner and an adaptive speed control system. On the other hand, a lane, a stability program, give support, a Hill Start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system are standard.
The Prius compared to the stainless steel
For comparison, a Toyota Prius is similar to extensively equipped as an entry-level model. The base price of 28.150 euro is however well 3,000 euros over the Kia Niro. One is slightly faster on the road in a Prius: accelerated in 10.6 seconds the Japanese on tempo 100 and the maximum speed is 180 km/h. And also in terms of consumption strong Prius is King of 122 HP. He should settle for Toyota with an average three liters per 100 kilometers. (ml)
