Porsche heralds the future

Stuttgart, September 15, 2015

The Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer Porsche presented at the IAA 2015 ( 17 to 27 September ) in Frankfurt the first all-electric four-seater sports car brand. He bears the name of Mission E and showing a lot of new technologies.

600 hp and four-wheel drive

It is powered by two permanent magnet synchronous study engines as they come in the Le Mans-winning 919 hybrid used. They accelerate the vehicle and recover braking energy. With this drive the Mission E comes to more than 600 hp and reaches 100 km / h from a standing start in less than 3.5 seconds. 200 km / h is possible on after less than twelve seconds. Compared to its competitors, the full power will also be accessible in quick succession several times. About an intelligent all-wheel drive with Porsche Torque Vectoring the force is distributed. A four-wheel steering provides the necessary agility. Supposedly the study, the Nürburgring Nordschleife circumnavigate in under eight minutes.

Long range, fast charging

The battery, which extends in the underbody of the vehicle on the full length between front and rear axle is able to supply the Porsche with enough electricity for more than 500 kilometers drive. The low positioning also provides a very low center of gravity. About the " Porsche Turbo Charging" the batteries will be charged in 15 minutes again to 80 percent. This is achieved by switching from the 400-volt technology to the 800-volt technology. Can load the battery moreover, to an ordinary 400-volt charging station, or alternatively via an induction loop in the garage at home.

The body of only 130 centimeters high study is made of aluminum, steel and carbon fiber - reinforced plastic. The rims are made of carbon and measure 21 inches at the front and 22 inches at the rear axle. About the complete outer skin of Mission E are distributed air inlets and outlets. The latter are used in the flanks, for example, the reduction of excess pressure in the wheel housing and thus a reduction in lift. The simple front builds a bridge to the supersport 918 Spyder and the 919 Hybrid race car. The four-point LED headlights are grouped around a sensor for assistance systems whose boundary doubles as indicators. Pronounced front fenders, a flat hood section, the recess in the hood and roof and the side windows line show the relationship of the legendary 911th Special features of Mission E: The opposite opening doors without B-pillar and the cameras instead of mirrors.

Futuristic interior

Inside immediately notice that is due to the missing transmission tunnel much more space. The center console is open at the bottom and floats like a bridge between the driver and passenger. Four individual seats, in which Porsche has specialized in racing bucket seats that keep the passengers firmly in control. Before the driver there is a flat, detached and curved display, on the five round instruments are virtually displayed. An eye tracking system tracks the eye movements of the driver and thus always ensures an unobstructed view of all instruments. Especially funny Innovation in Mission E: A camera detects the driver's mood and presents it with a smiley in the display The instrument panel is divided into two parts and has two three-dimensionally structured documents.. In between, a wide holographic display pulls over to the passenger side. Through various apps can the media, the navigation system, air conditioning, contacts or retrieve the vehicle information. A contact-free gesture control also represents a novelty. The image of the door mirror cameras is projected in the lower corners of the windscreen so that the driver has all important information directly in view. (mf)
