Glickenhaus wants the ring record

Nürburgring, 10th may 2017

Lamborghini worry the loss of his still-dewy North Loop record? Perhaps, because Glickenhaus could attempt to set the fastest time with its roadworthy GT3 racing car SCG003S. The racing version of SCG003C, which you see in the attached video, is the work of the American Racing team of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus. Glickenhaus has created some sensation in the German VLN series, as well as at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in the last few years. From the SCG003C is now in the near future of the SCG003S, so to speak the street version of the race cars. The "S" stands for "Stradale" in this case.

6:40 minutes

The SCG003S will not significantly differ from the GT3 race car. The potential for a new ring record is great. In the video, you will see how the SCG003C down rips a qualifying on the Nordschleife in 6:40 minutes. Maybe you remember: the Lamborghini Huracán Performante played his record round in 6:52 minutes. The Glickenhaus was so 12 seconds faster. And with race traffic on the route.

Street version significantly

However, there are a few points that you should point out: the SCG003C drives the 6:40 minutes on race tyres. After all: Porsche 918 (6 minutes, 57 seconds) and Huracán Performante also went on "Street tyres" and had reinforcing cages aboard. Glickenhaus must be also benefit: a 3.5 liter Honda Twin-Turbo V6 is limited in race trim to about 500 HP driving the race car. Also about 100 kilos are located, the regulations according to, extra ballast in the car. According to Glickenhaus, the street car without the ballast will come out and have a 4.4-liter Twin-Turbo V8 with about 700 to 800 Horsepower on board. We therefore assume that the SCG003S road variant is significantly stronger, but only slightly heavier and produces only slightly less output. The ring record of Huracán Performante could be actually quite short-lived. (black & white)
