Ford empower its biggest SUV if you look at it with European eyes. In the US, the Edge is more of a middle-class deal, in this country, of 4,81 metres long, the car is in its dimensions to VW-Touareg-level. Now, the Edge gets a major Facelift. The measures, among others, for Germany to fail, shows a Ford at the Geneva auto salon 2018 (8. to 18. March).
The optics have been already presented in the United States: A broader grille and wider headlights with LED technology provide for more recognition. Also on the rear light-emitting diodes. Inside, you will encounter the Sync 3 infotainment system with a colour Eight-inch touch screen. A new split in four equipment variants, to distinguish all of the optical. Trend (as a base), Titanium, ST-Line, and Vignale.
The new Vignale, which features Ford but not yet specified. The Edge-ST-Line-20-inch-Alus are included, ten-way power-adjustable partial leather seats with red stitching. Also standard: a sportier suspension and alloy sports pedals. Optional Ford delivers an adaptive steering system. In terms of assistance systems Ford highlights three new helpers: a System that brakes the car after a collision (Post-Collision Assist), a supportive alternative assistant and an adaptive cruise control with traffic jam and middle of the wizard.
As in the past, Ford puts in the Edge full-on Diesel. The two liter unit is available in two performance levels available: it starts in the future at 190 HP (previously 180 HP) and the standard six-speed manual transmission. In addition, the Biturbo version is 238, instead of the previous 210 HP. A Premiere, the two different big loaders are here. Including a new eight-speed automatic is the Biturbo. It replaces the previous six-speed DCT. Both Diesel engines feature an SCR catalytic Converter and AdBlue injection, each Ford Edge all-wheel drive is standard.
The market introduction of the new Edge is planned according to Ford in the fourth quarter of 2018. Prices are not yet available. They begin to date in the case of 41.900 euros.(rh)
