After the launch of the Q2 have the Ingolstadt 4 Q models in the portfolio. But that's not enough, and so, a study of the Q8 on the North American International Auto Show in Detroit (8-22 January 2017) is now presented. First sketches were published already.
Between Coupé and SUV
The Q8 concept is likely based on the Q7. He will combine the lines of a Coupe with SUV typical space. "Q8 concept we have created with the Audi a new spearhead within our Q - series. Its design conveys highly"sportsmanship and prestige, explains head of Audi Design Marc light. "It's important that the show car despite the flat roofline offers a spacious interior with four equivalent seats us." What no mention of light is the value reduced compared to the Q7, because five and optionally seven people fit into the Q7, and also the trunk volume should be there more.
Grill: Even larger and more prominently
The Q8 with sporty design to make up for disadvantages of the space. The front of the study appears more impressive than already in the Q7. The single-frame grille has eight instead of six corners and is considerably wider than the current series models. As already in the Q7, the frame is three-dimensional design, but more plastic shaped. In addition, six vertical double spokes decorate the grill. The headlights are slit-like, the apron has huge air holes.
Memories of the ur-quattro
As already in several studies, Audi points out on the ur-quattro of the 1980s as a source of inspiration. Memory factors include the extremely flat and at the same time very wide C-pillar, as well as the strong, the shoulders above the wheels according to Audi. The proportions emphasise the front and rear wheels alike to be a note on the all-wheel drive.
Five BMW SUVs, six Mercedes
Audi in establishing his SUV series is slightly off compared to BMW and Mercedes. BMW can X 1, X 3, X 4, X 5 and X 6 show, the X will soon start 2 and to a X 7, there are at least rumors. Mercedes has with GLA, GLC, GLC Coupé, GLE GLE Coupé and GLS has six models on the market, the G-class not included. Audi, however, offers only four series models: Q2, Q3, Q5 and Q7.
Q8 series start already 2017?
Suspected of a Q4, but there is still no trial. It is probably next on the Q6: who in the autumn 2015 at the IAA shown e-tron quattro concept is first evidence. Now comes a Q8 in sight. Whether he will have an electric drive as the Q6, is unclear, although the letters e-tron at the front of the study points at least to an electrified drive. Also when the car on the market comes, Audi does not reveal. But because the study is called close series, it could go in the year 2017 in series. (sl)
