BMW bike in M2-blue
Munich, 18 April 2016
A few days after the official sales launch of the M2 BMW Coupé presents a tribute to the compact professional athletes. It's not a design study with four wheels, but to a bicycle: a special edition of the BMW cruise M bike. The special wheel is painted blue and it looks like the BMW M2 Coupé in the launch color. Each model in the series is limited to 1,500 copies has also a specially designed plaque. The BMW cruise M bike limited edition is available from selected BMW dealers and 1,400 euros.
Fitness bike with a bull neck frame
Like the normal cruise M bike Special Edition has a "Bull neck"-frame that reminds a bit of sporting motorcycles with large tank. It consists of aluminum, which is processed in the hydroforming process (a special high pressure compression technique for sheet metal), the welding seams are smoothed out elaborately. The 28-inch bike is probably best seen as to classify fitness bike: it's an in-between bike, trekking bike and mountain bike. Missing fenders or light, but there's a Suntour suspension fork, a 30-speed derailleur, brakes, and a carbon Seatpost. The wheel weighs 15 kilos.
Bike collection is republished
Currently, none of the BMW bikes in the brand's online shop is available. The reason that the bike collection is just republished. Here M will receive the cruise bike and the more favourable cruise bike (slightly different equipment, M-logo) new colors. Also the BMW cruise e-bike is offered again. It has same Bull neck frame like the other wheels. The electric motor is attached to the bottom bracket, the 400-Watt-hour rechargeable battery, however, he looks almost to the frame like a water bottle in the holder. The E-bike cost 2699 euro so far, now the price rises to 3,100 euros. The other wheels are slightly more expensive: the cruise M bike costs in future 1,200 instead of 1,100 euros, the cruise bike 995 instead of 950 euros. All models are available in three frame sizes: S (from 160 cm height), M (more than 175 cm) and L (more than 185 cm). For the younger generation, BMW also holds the Cruise bike junior that unchanged 450 euros. (sl)
