Tesla competition from China

Beijing, 26 April 2016

Competition could get Elon Musk, the figurehead of Electromobility and the Steve Jobs of the cars. The enemy comes from China, has made his billions with technology and is called Jia Yueting. His "baby" of LeEco LeSee now stands at the Auto China (25th April to 4th May) in Beijing and attracts the attention there.

Autonomous driving via Smartphone

The sleek electric vehicle with the large glass surfaces is a four-door Coupé. So far, only a few details about the car are known. Top speed 210 km/h should be also in autonomous mode. The LeSee will be configurable via the Smartphone and again charged by induction. Much like at Tesla, a huge display is housed in the dashboard. In the instrument panel, the steering wheel also disappears at autonomous driving. The function of the mirror is taken over by cameras. A large glass roof seems to go up in the front or rear window. The doors open in opposite directions.

Technology by open source?

On the technical side, LeEco works with Aston Marin and Faraday future together to develop batteries and electric motor. Founder Yueting would like to provide the drive parts then other companies, to promote the development of electric cars faster. (mf)
