Mercedes-AMG unveiled at the New York International Auto Show (25 March to 3 April 2016) the newest addition to the c-class portfolio: the C 63 Cabriolet. The twelfth specification of AMG c-class will come in August 2016 on the market. There are four different body versions (sedan, wagon, Coupé and convertible) with three different motorization.
V8 with "Hot V"
The Twin-Turbo V8 known already from the brothers, C sits under the long aluminium bonnet. The two turbochargers work between the cylinder banks in the"hot". In C, the engine produces 63 convertible 476 HP and 650 Newton metres. So it goes in 4.2 seconds from standstill to 100. The top model, that 63 S convertible, comes C to 510 HP, 700 nm and a Sprint time of 4.1 seconds. The top speed is limited at both vehicles electronically to 250 km/h, with the optional "Drivers package" is up to 280 km/h.
Driving dynamics in a convertible dress
The AMG C class convertible comes standard with an Adaptive Sport suspension and a newly developed rear axle. This can be slightly wider drop the track compared to the sedan and wagon. At the wheels it has become in Stuttgart at the C 63 decided convertible to 18 inches at the C 63 S convertible for 19 inch. Also 20-Inchers are optional. There are differences also in the differentials: while in the C 63 is a mechanical copy, an electronic lock works in the C 63 S. The ESP is adjusted in three stages, the convertible can be moved into four different driving modes. For the right balance between comfort and dynamic equipped the two vehicles with dynamic engine mounts that are harder or softer depending on the driving situation. 360 mm discs provide the right delay at the 63 C convertible and the c 63 S convertible 390 mm discs. Those who opt for the optional ceramic brakes, can look forward brake discs over 402 mm wide, weighing only around half of the standard disks.
Muscleman
The fenders of the AMG versions to grow compared to the production model on the front axle to 64 and the rear by 66 millimeters in width. In addition to the aluminium bonnet the AMG front characterized with power dome by a front splitter. The multi-layer fabric hood with glass joins frameless doors. At the rear, the vehicle ends with a diffuser insert with two chromed tailpipes and a tear-off edge on the trunk lid.
Interior with sport and elegance
The Interior is with the analogue clock in the IWC-design and the standard sport seats a successful balancing act between a cozy convertible cruising and a small intermediate sprint on the road. The dials in carbon look and speedometer scale up to 320 km/h reinforce this impression.
Edition 1 only in white
As with other models provides Mercedes-AMG the C 63 cabriolet "Edition 1" special design, which combines numerous extras. This is available only in white: Polar white, Diamond White, white cashmere very exclusively so. There is then, inter alia the performance seats and the flattened bottom sport steering wheel as standard. (mf)
