Eeeeeehhhh's yet?

Affalterbach, 26 October 2016

She is already a mixture of trams, living room, technology Temple and designer pieces. Now comes yet another attribute: an athletic field. Yes, even the Mercedes E-class not get around an AMG treatment. The result is the fastest business sedan of ever. In two versions: fast (E 63 4Matic +) and extra fast (S 63 S 4Matic +).

4.0-liter V8 with up to 612 HP

Let's start with the centerpiece: the 4.0 liter V8 engine with bi turbocharging place takes In the engine compartment. Depending on the version it is 571 PS (S 63) or 612 PS (S 63 S) available. The torque is located at 750 and 850 Newton meters. A model with pure rear-wheel drive there will be no longer in the classical sense. Whether with or without the "S" on the trunk lid, a variable all-wheel drive (in the "drift mode" 100 percent of the power is sent back the S version) is always on board. He is fed through a nine-speed sport automatic with power.

Breathtaking performance

The performance? We call them times "fine". In 3.5 seconds, the 0-100 km/h discipline completed the E 63 (the S is even 0.1 second faster). From regulated is electronically controlled at 250 km/h. If you want to go faster, you need the "AMG driver's package" order. Then, the 1.8-ton Sport-E-class quickly runs up to 300 km/h. That so the specified average fuel consumption of just 8.9 litres per 100 kilometres will not reach can be, should be granted. For the eco-conscience still on board: A cylinder shut-off.

Subtle sport dress for the E-class

Visually, something has changed: in addition to a new front and rear design with, for example, larger air intakes and a four-flow (and most likely quite vulgar-sounding) exhaust AMG broadened the wheel arches to 17 millimeters. So space was created for a wider track and 265er tyres front and rear 295er-pneus. Standard parking the E 63 on 19-inch wheels, 63 S standing on 20-inch E. Behind them are perforated and ventilated compound brake discs. For the AMG top model a carbon-ceramic braking system is also available.

Interior updates with new app for the racetrack

In the Interior, AMG bought a headtube bottom sport steering wheel with 12-hour mark, on request there are many carbon components and sport seats, which should guarantee more lateral support. The widescreen display (consisting of two screens) from the normal E-class is also on board and with sportier graphics provided for example in target flags look. In addition to the well-known connectivity features, a new app is also called "AMG Track pace" available. The driving on the track with you can analyze, improve, and share with other AMG drivers via social media.

More Querdynmaik, more driving pleasure

Speaking of race track: four additional Struts to stiffen the body structure of the business sedan, dynamic engine mounts, as well as an electronic steering of the parameter are used. Still not enough? Then you can still via a rear axle differential lock (mechanical at the E 36, electronically at the E 63 S), offers a three-stage ESP and a sport suspension with three-Chamber air suspension system. Many complicated and clever components that you want to track only really make sense: much transverse dynamics and even more driving fun.

First, launch and price

How much should it cost the E-class with all the sporting action from Affalterbach, does not reveal the manufacturer by the way still. We assume that for the E-63 models, but at least 110,000 euros will be payable. For comparison: A BMW weaker with 560 Horsepower M5 costs 104.300 euro and an Audi RS 6 avant performance (63-models of the E-class will be probably also as a wagon) is available from 117,000 euros from your Audi dealer. The premiere of the new performance-E-class takes place at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2016 (18 to 27 November). The market launch is planned for March 2017. (ml)
