The more functions to independently run cars, the greater is the fear among some owners: you still thinks about the people sitting in the car? Is the driver to the pure filler material is degraded? An answer to that tries to give Toyota during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas now. There, the study "Concept-i" from 5 to 8 January 2017.

Invitation to the future

We don't know how much of the future US President Donald Trump on innovations departs. But he is likely pleased that the Toyota concept-i in the in-house design in Newport Beach (California) was designed. The user friendly technology comes from the "Toyota innovation hub" in San Francisco. The idea that new mobility technologies should be warm, inviting and fun behind the concept-i.

Hello, YUI!

The core of the study is a system with a strong artificial (or artificial) intelligence. As the vehicle to build a nearly human relationship with the driver. Visible is the technique with "Yui", in a way the personification of AI technology. Of course no robot next to a sitting, YUI is hidden in the dashboard. YUI is communicated by light, noise, but also tactile signals. Toyota in the concept-i largely dispenses with screens. Different colored lights in the footwell indicating whether it moves the vehicle in automatic or manual mode. Cameras at the back of the car inside project their images on the A-pillars to reduce the blind spot. YUI appears outside to greet the occupant of the concept-i on the doors. The rear of the vehicle shows messages to warn following motorists of curves and potential hazards. The front fascia of the outside world, however, tells whether the rider or the technology have just authority. (rh)
