Open to Hardcore

Maranello, 25 August 2014

The flood of new products ideas before the Paris Motor Show ( October 4 to 19 2014) does not stop. In this candidate, you must quiet times but look a little closer and like to dream even begin spontaneously: it is the Ferrari 458 Speciale A and yes, it goes into production. For the advanced Italians among us: The A stands of course for Aperta and means nothing more than " open". The long-awaited 458 Spider Speciale is so because and without hybrid, electric or funny opening doors, it should be one of the stars of the Paris Exhibition.

Heavy, but just as quickly

The 458 Speciale Aperta shall follow the same simple principle as its predecessor, the F430 Scuderia Spider 16M: You took the coupe and cut the roof on. However, the 458 Speciale A dispense with a fabric roof and uses the same folding hardtop like the 458 Spider. Compared to the coupé Aperta is now 50 pounds heavier and now weighs 1,445 pounds. Under the stunningly beautiful body but nothing changes. The high-revving 4.5 - liter naturally aspirated V8 and an arsenal of extremely clever electronics are also retained in the 458 Speciale A. 605 hp and 540 Newton meters provide a zero - to - 100 - km / h time of 3.0 seconds. Despite the added weight is just as fast as the coupe. And the lap time on the Ferrari - house course at Fiorano should be identical.

Last Ferrari with V8 naturally aspirated engine

Other highlights ( adjacent to the glorious engine ) are the ultra-fast seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and several assists, the less help talented pilots to glorious maneuvers. For example, the " Side Slip Angle Control ", which makes each driver to a drift artist. Who does not need help, the stability control can, however, turn off course. The prices of the 458 Speciale A, Ferrari has not yet ruled. Since the 458 Spider costs about 22,000 euros more than the 458 Italia, we expect a similar increase. That would leave the pitch at Aperta good 255,000 euros. By comparison, the direct competitor McLaren 650S Spider also costs 255,000 euros. Another little tip: Already in 2015 is likely the successor to the 458 Italia come on the market specifically with turbocharging, as in the recently announced California T. The 458 Speciale A is thus probably the last Ferrari with a V8 naturally aspirated engine. If you were still not quite sure this could perhaps accelerate their buying decision. Hurry, you should anyway, the open Speciale is in fact limited to 499 copies . ( sw )
