Directional pointer

Los Angeles, 21 November 2016

America's answer to the Volkswagen Tiguan is Jeep Compass. The third generation of the SUV was now presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show (18th to 27th November 2016). The car in Brazil, China, Mexico and India is being built. It should delight customers in more than 100 countries, including Germany.

Liters are relatively

Visually the new Jeep Compass is clearly majority enabled as the Cherokee, the design is based on the Grand Cherokee. Look at the dimensions: compass long is 4.39 meters, the width is 1.87 meters, the height without roof rails 1.64 meters. Thus, the Jeep between seat Ateca and VW maps a Tiguan. The previous model was by the way seven centimetres longer. Trunk volume is after American SAE measurement between 770 and 1,694 liters. These numbers are to enjoy but with caution, because the SAE method uses smaller blocks than the more prevalent VDA measurement to the Ausliterung.

Something offroad taste

The election are a front and a four-wheel-drive, only for the latter is also a nine speed automatic transmission in the offer. Otherwise the program is: six gears. Jeep would not Jeep of course if there's not even a real Offroadversion of the compass. You is called "Trailhawk" and distinguishes from the normal model by other bumper and more ground clearance. At the same time, the all-wheel drive gets an additional rock (Rock) mode, a hill descent assist, and a 20:1-ratio. A few more numbers for off-road fans: The fording depth is 48 centimeters, the angle of the slope 30.3 degrees.

Diesel for Germany

For the U.S. market, the Jeep Compass gets a 2.4 liter petrol engine vacuum. Overall, there will be five engines in the program, the range varies depending on the market. We expect 140 and 170 HP, as gasoline and diesel fuel available for Germany. In the cockpit the UConnect multimedia system known from Fiat and Jeep included Apple CarPlay and Android is used car. The screen in the centre console varies from five up to 8.4 inches. Especially Jeep stressed the wide range of security systems, including a dead angle detector or an active lane. In the second half of the year 2017, the compass will come to Europe. (rh)
