And the winner is... Opel Astra

Now it is clear: car of the year 2016 is the Opel Astra. At an event on the eve of the Geneva Auto Show (3rd to 13th March 2016, press days from March 1 to 2) the compact Rüsselsheim the winner was declared. With 309 points he overtook the second, the Volvo XC90 (294 points) only slightly, the Mazda MX-5 with 202 points followed far behind in third place.

BMW in last place

The other nominated cars were Audi A4 (189 points), Jaguar XE (163 points), Skoda Superb (147 points) and BMW 7 series (143 points). BMW did it again poorly since 1964, yet no single car won the prize from Munich. From 35 candidates, the jury had screened seven cars until December 2015.
