Chrysler Viper

The only sports car, the Chrysler Group offered in Germany, was the Viper. This was sold in the U.S. under the Dodge label (like all sports models of Chrysler). In 1992, the first generation Chrysler Viper RT/10 in the trade. Later models were even higher engine power, the Chrysler Viper GTS Model 1999 has 340 kW (462 hp) and reaches a top speed of 299 km / h The successor (from 2003) was also in Germany under the brand name Dodge as Dodge Viper SRT-10, and made available as a new car 372 kW (506 hp), resulting in a torque of 771 Nm. In the U.S. version of the Viper side-mounted exhaust tail pipes (side pipes) that are not approved in Europe had (except Mercedes McLaren SLR), so all copies of the Chrysler Viper for the European market at the company individually in Bottrop Startech converted. By the global economic crisis in 2009, the sale of Chrysler Viper stopped almost to zero, so that Chrysler could phase out the model in 2010. Whether and when a successor to the Chrysler Viper comes on the market, is yet uncertain.
